The Climate Collage – Public Workshop on Climate Change
16 October, 2021 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
The Climate Collage will be running collaborative and empowering workshops to build climate capability across Aotearoa.
The workshops are grounded in the science from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (the internationally accepted authority on climate change) and has been attended by over 180,000 participants across 45 countries to date.
The workshop is designed to help participants explore the science of climate change, the impacts it is creating now and will increasingly create in the future, and what we can do about it. « The Climate Collage » is a collaborative and engaging workshop about climate change.
Based on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, the workshop explains how the climate functions and the consequences of disrupting it. The collaborative workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn a lot in 3 hours, regardless of whether you are a novice or an expert.
We are committed to removing barriers to access The Climate Collage so if there are any ways you need support to attend the workshop, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate: firstname.lastname@example.org
How it works
The workshop is based on a 42-card game. Each card represents an element, a cause or a consequence of climate change. As a team, guided by your facilitator (Pete), you work together to find the cause-effect relationship between the different components of climate change. Collective intelligence will get you from one set of cards to the next! This step-by-step creation of the ‘collage’ provides keys to understand the complexity and develop an overview of climate change.
The workshop structure
- A Brief History Of “The Climate Collage”
- Creation of the Climate Collage guided by your facilitator
- Creative phase
- Debrief + time to share, express thoughts and feelings
- Potential actions and solutions
We will be kicking off at 1:30pm sharp to ensure we finish on time so please show up on-time and ready to collaborate. This workshop will be run in English by Pete Bernhardt – a facilitator from Aotearoa New Zealand. If you have any questions about this workshop or would like to organise another workshop (either online or in-person in NZ) please get in touch via email: email@example.com
